This year I’ve noticed that a lot of young families come on the island of Krk and they don’t know what to do.
So, I decided to give my suggestions on what to do and how to make holiday interested to the kids.
Every trip is starting with an accommodation even island of Krk looks big if you are accommodate in the right place you can be very close to everything and every day go on the different daily trip if you are active family and love to see everything.
In case you love too cycling on the island you have a lot of roads for the cycling just be aware that east part of the island is a bit less busy than a west side. Make sure when you are choosing accommodation place that you have this tip on your mind.
Don’t let the size of the island fool you we have a lot of history. Old part of the town of Krk is very interesting you can see, do not forget to inform yourself about Frankopan family. From a town Punat you can go with a boat to the little Island Košljun and visit two museums and monastery. Punat is also famous for its marina, first marina in Croatia was built in Punat. On the way to the Baška you can stop by Jurandvor and see famous Baška tablet, first time written word Croatian on the Glagolitic script. In case you are into hiking you can enjoy in really nice panoramic view from Baška.
On the way back if you love wines and good traditional food the Vrbnik is right place to do that. Near by you have one beach by the name St. Marco, it is a sand beach. I know that I don’t need said another word, I’m sure you have put it on your list.
Čižići, Klimno and Soline in my opinion are ideal for relaxing. Beach with healthy mud is really popular specially young families because the sea level is really low. You can walk 2 km and the sea will be maybe until your knees. Near by is also famous cave Biserujka, it is really nice to visit it if you are nature lover.
As the end of my tour I’ve saved best for last. As a place with the best sunset on the island you must come to the Njivice.
You can make a tour with a small submarine too I’m sure that would be unforgettable experience.
Then, do you think the island of Krk is a family friendly island ? I think it is. Come and see for yourselfs.
Until next time,
